Sound effects gave Toaster Bro an air of legitimacy. The difference was like night and day. Without sound effects, it was a shaky graphics demo; with sound effects, it felt alive. Hard to explain unless you’ve witnessed it.

I've had this experience when editing movies. Rough dialogue and horrible acting will get smoothed over by background music and sound effects. It is literally amazing.
